Balm:: any of various oily, fragrant or resinous substances, exuding from certain aromatic plants used for healing soothing.
Beautician:: A person trained in styling and dressing the hair also known as a hairdresser; not necessarily to be confused with an esthetician.
Beeswax:: The yellow to grayish-brown wax secreted by the honeybee for constructing the cells of honeycombs; A traditional emulsifier used in cosmetics.
Benzoyl Peroxide:: A common antibacterial and bleaching agent for flour, fats, waxes and oils. Often found in cosmetics or pharmaceuticals, especially to treat acne.
Bergamot or Essence of Bergamot:: The oil of fruit from a small citrus tree of the same name found in Southern Europe. Bergamot oil is known for its exceptional antiseptic and deodorizer properties and is a common ingredient in perfume.
Blackhead:: A tiny plug of keratin or sebum within a hair follicle that is blackened on the surface. Also known as comedo.
Body:: A term used to describe the consistency, density or richness of a substance; particularly in its ability to retain its shape; primarily used to describe make-up and hairstyles.
Botanical:: Any product or family of products made from plants, as from roots, leaves, bark or berries.
Botox:: A trademark for a preparation of botulinum toxin type a, a nervous paralytic, used to treat muscle spasms and wrinkles. This product is popularly used to temporarily smooth wrinkles in face through injections targeted at the muscles, which affect the wrinkled area.
Bronzers:: Cosmetic products intended to darken the skin to provide the appearance of being naturally tanned.
Buffer:: A common part of exfoliation programs; A pH-balanced cleanser that makes the skin shinier and softer, thus providing a healthy and young appearance.
Butcher's Broom:: A shrubby European evergreen, Ruscus aculeatus, of the lily family, also used for making brooms. Extract from this plant is a commonly used to reduce redness in the face.
