- PABA or Para-Aminobenzoic Acid:
- Part of the Vitamin B complex but not considered an essential nutrient; often found in cosmetics and some sunscreen lotions or an anesthetic in sunburn products.
- Panthenol:
- Also known as vitamin B5 complex; provides body to hair by filling the crack on the hair fiber.
- Peel:
- To remove the dead, non sensitive skin by removing small layers.
- pH:
- A measure of acidity or alkalinity; (the activity of Hydrogen ions (H+); usually between 0 to 14 with 0 being very acidic, 7 being neutral and 14 being very alkaline (or basic).
- Photoaging:
- Damage to the skin as a result of over exposure to harmful light rays; often caused by the sun.
- Photosensitivity:
- Sensitivity to light; especially ultraviolet radiation.
- Phytocosmetics:
- Cosmetic products that are made only with all natural ingredients from plants.
- Pimple:
- A common symptom of acne. A small inflammation of the skin; a pustule or papule.
- Pore:
- A small opening of the sweat glands of the skin, often containing a hair follicle.
- Psoriasis:
- A chronic disease of the skin characterized by inflamed, red raised areas that develop scales. Possibly a disorder of the immune system, this condition is often treated by various skin creams and or ultra-violet light treatments.
